My 1982 1000 Shovelhead won't crank over...WTH?

Ok, I just got this bad machine form up North and took it out only a few times because its not legal yet.....I know. Any way, It started up like a champ the first two times and ran as smooth as a hard tail can. The motor has been board, stroked and completely rebuilt by a guy who's been in the business for over forty years. I went out the other day after work and it tried to crank over two times.....slowly then stopped. I jumped the bike thinking it may be the battery but the battery is like new. After about a thirty minute run I pulled in the drive turned off the bike then tried cranking it over again and then nothing. Now it only makes a clicking sound like the battery is dead but my head light and tail light are still bright. I could us any suggestions anyone may have. Hell.... it may be the dang battery but if someone thinks it may be something else let me know.
