being an owner of a 1984 model fxrs i had heard all the stories both fact and fiction. what holds true is the fxr is the best bike harley davidson ever rolled off the assembly line. former owners of the fxr rue the day they ever let one go either by way of trade or selling it outright. my ride begain in oct. 2004 third owner of a 1984 fxrs.... i beleave it may be an exception to other '84s because i own one with an 80ci evo & a 5 speed....i've been told that a few of these were bikes that got a little extra attention at the factory ?? urban legend i suppose so i do know when i roll on that throttle it gets attention,it demands attention and more often then not earning the respect of the dude who was sure he was quicker.....it still even at 26 yrs. in service it proves itself daily as a very good canidate for the best harley ever
