Ultima 8mm belt drive unit install help!!!

Hi,
I'm installing an Ultima 8mm belt drive unit (drag style) on to an ultima 127ci engine and the instructions say to install a Stator rotor washer between the primary pulley and the engine but i didn't get one with my engine or the drive unit kit, do i need one? has any one else had this problem?
