front disc noise on sportster

Hi I've got a 1999 SportsterC53 and every now and then I get an annoying sound from the front brake rotor as if it is rubbing on something. ? could the rotor have warped or something ? I went to websites to see if their section on sportsters had anything - I found loads to interest me but I couldn't see anything so thought I'd try the forum. 
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I had the front brake on my sportster rattling for a bit. Took it apart and found that the spring on top of the pads was in wrong. The manual doesn't show it's orientation very well. Turned it over. Taa Daa, rattle gone.
