Pushrod adjustment is 1/8" on all Harleys with hydraulic lifters, regardless of year, model or size of motor.
The same applies to all aftermarket Harley-type motors, since they all use lifters, cams and rocker arms designed for Harleys.
Different pushrod manufacturers use different thread pitch. An easy way to determine the correct number of pushrod adjuster turns is to divide threads per inch by eight.
For example, 24 TPI would be three turns, 32 TPI would be four turns, 36 TPI would be four and a half turns, etc.
A fraction of a turn error in either direction isn't critical, since the lifters are self-adjusting, but right on the money is best of course.
Start with the battery disconnected, the spark plugs out, the rear wheel off the ground and the bike in top gear.
1) With the pushrod tubes collapsed and the pushrods exposed, turn the rear wheel forward until both front lifters are at their lowest point (on the "base circle" of the cam). This will also be top dead center for the front piston, if you wish to use it to verify cam position.
2) Starting with the intake pushrod, expand it until all free play is taken up (but not exceeded), then further expand it 1/8" and tighten the pushrod's locknut.
3) Repeat the same procedure with the exhaust pushrod, then wait at least ten minutes and check to see if the lifters have bled down.
When the pushrods can be easily turned (with only light resistance) it means they've bled down and you can install the pushrod cover clips.
Repeat steps 1 through 3 on the rear cylinder.
Do not turn the motor over until all lifters have bled down, or you risk bending a valve.
