i have 06sportster can't shift with boots on no room to get underneath shifter can this be adjusted need help.

The shift linkage is adjustable. Loosen the locknut on the front heim joint, disconnect the heim joint from the forward upright shift lever and screw the heim joint inward on the shaft to shorten the linkage. This will move the foot lever up when the linkage is reassembled.

Check the adjustment to see if it's what you want before retightening any fasteners.

The foot lever itself can also be repositioned by removing (not just loosening) its pinch bolt, then sliding the lever off the shift shaft and repositioning it to suit your needs, then reinstalling the pinch bolt.
