Does anyone have any suggestions how to remove a tappet block/lifter guide that won't budge? I have a bad lifter I need to replace that is stuck in the down position. I can see what appears to be a retainer pin, does that need to be removed first?  I'm worried I may have more damage. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I've got a El Bruto 127 with similar issues. Rocker arm slapped top, and have a bad lifter(rear intake). Wanted to pull and inspect the lifter before I go any further, and open the cam cover. But I can't get the lifter guide to move to remove it, I'm about to take a sledge hammer and crow-bar to it.

Norcal newbie(first build).

ENGINE COLD AND FASTENERS REMOVED.HEAT TAPPET BLOCK WITH A PROPANE TORCH.NOT TO HOT BECAUSE YOU DO NOT WANT TO ALSO HEAT THE LIFTER.GASKET WILL BE DESTROYED BY HEAT AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT CAN BURN OR MELT.BE CAREFUL.AFTER HEATING TAP AROUND AND UP AND OUT.BE CAREFUL IF USING ANYTHING TO PRY UP WITH SO AS TO NOT DAMAGE THE ENGINE CASE.DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE. DO NOT GET THE BLOCK COCKED SIDEWAYS.BRING IT UP EVENILY AND OUT.TAPPET BLOCK IS EASILY REPLACEABLE.THE LIFTER MAY HAVE SCORED THE TAPPET BLOCK BORE AND MAY BE SEIZED IN IT OR THE TAPPET BLOCK IS SPLIT AND EXPANDED LARGER THAN THE CASE BORE.WORST SCENARIO.REMOVE CAM AND THEN PULL TAPPET OUT BY WORKING IT BACK AND FORTH AND PULL DOWN WITH VISE GRIPS.THEN TAP BLOCK UP AND OUT.IF THE TAPPET BLOCK IS CRACKED AND SPLIT,IT IS LARGER THAN THE CASE BORE.YOU WILL HAVE TO CUT IT FROM INSIDE WITH A DREMMEL BEING CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE ENGINE CASE.GOOD LUCK!HOPEFULLY THINGS ARE NOT AT WORST!
