I've had a 1981 sportster milwaukee edition for several years now. Bought it from the original owner whom I worked with. He said it was the first edition bike made after the AMF years, I've been looking around and have not found another bike like this, (not even on e-bay motors) just wondering if anyone else has one.

I also have an original 1981 Milwaukee Sportster.  I bought the bike in 1984 and have over 32,000 miles on it.  It is original paint and has never been dropped or modified (other than I took off the original air cleaner).  It is most definately a shaker that numbs your hands, but I absolutely Love this bike!

My hometown is Rapid City SD and back in the middle 80's I used to see 3 or 4 others during the Sturgis bike rally, but have not laid eyes on another in over 20 years now . . .

Orange and Black are the true Harley colors!

I would venture to say that my bike is the cleanest, most original 1981 Milwaukee Special Sportster on the road today.  Other than the electrical nightmare that they are known for (generators/voltage regulators/batteries - I have probably replaced at least 4 of each, one at a time throughout the years) it has been a great bike that I very much cherish to this day.

I also have had one for about a year now. Mine is showing only 9k miles. I doubt that is correct but who knows. I bought it from an old biker that had no idea what the Milwaukee on the tubes meant. After digging on the Internet I found out how rare this is. Is there anywhere we can find more info on this edition. Factory parts and specs. I have had the bike on craigslist here in Arkansas before I knew about the special edition and had a price of $3k and a few hits. But once I found out about the rarity of the bike I jumped the price to $5k and my phone and email has been blowing up. If we had more info we could know exactly how rare and collectible these are. At $5000 will I be loosing a goldmine or making out like a bandit?
