Hi,
My wife and I want to take a road trip this spring from Detroit to the Grand Canyon via Route 66. Does anyone have any experience along RT 66? Is there camping etc.
It seems like the highway disappears along several places. We are in the planning stage so any suggestions would be helpful.

When you get to the Grand Canyon, head on over to the North Rim.  It's higher, has trees and you can camp along the rim I believe.  If not there are real campgrounds East.  The North Rim is less crowded and more spectacular I think.  If you don't mind riding on dirt roads you can follow the rim for quite a ways.  One of my favorite camping trips was to the NR.  But be warned, at dusk there were a LOT of deer along the highway that goes in/out.
