No Oil Pressure

One morning, about midway through the season, when I started the sled I noticed the idiot light for the oil was still on.

I let the sled run for a few minutes and it finally turned off. Checking oil level, I found that it was fine.

Late in September, again after starting the sled, the idiot light was still on.. I also noticed the oil pressure gauge was at 0. No movement at all.

I've been doing some research and found that both idiot light and pressue gauge stem from the same switch.

Could the switch be bad or the pump or do I have a more serious problem?

Outside of the K&N filter and R&B pipes.. everything is stock.

the cost of a switch is by far cheaper than a new engine.(even if the existing switch is not the problem, it should be cheaper than the local mechanic's 1-hour charge to diagnos.)
or you could plumb in an oil pressure guage where the switch is located in the block.
And then start it up to check the oil pressure  that way.
one way or another this should help point you to the trouble.

good luck!
