Title problem

I bought a '99 FXST in AZ from the original owner.  He had upgraded the motor with a new one from Harley because he wanted more power.  In the paperwork I received, there is a certificate authenticating the engine is a Harley original.  When the title was transferred  to me, DMV changed the model to RECON.  I didn't think too much about the change at the time.  BIG MISTAKE!

I've decided to sell the bike BUT since it says RECON on the title, it is worth only half the value according to a local Harley dealer.  I contacted AZ (am currently in KY) to see why the model portion of the title was changed from FXST to RECON.  Their reason?...since the original motor was changed out, it is now considered a reconstructed vehicle.  I argued with them that if an engine in a regular vehicle was replaced with a new but same model one, it would be considered a RECON?  Answer: YES!

Has anyone had to deal with this situation before?  I desperately need help to get the title either changed back to being an authentic Harley or have an exception made for the situation.

Thanks ahead of time...

A 99 FXST WITH A NEW ENGINE FROM HARLY DAVIDSON WITH ALL ORIGINAL PAPERWORK FROM HARLEY ETC. AND THEY SAY WHAT? Because of the title? dont put so much stock into this dealers opinion maybe talk to others; is that this dealers opinion or harley,s law on resale value etc.?another thing is sell the bike to an average Joe who cares about important things like i dont know maybe how the bike looks an rides and could care less about some misstake on a title.lots of folks like that out there.don,t put so much stock in what harley says.
