I gave you the answer twice. Use 25-60 oil. If you are so strong willed that you cannot listen to the voice of reason, then don't whine to me.

Forget the Ultima motors. Spend the extra $ and buy a S & S. You'll be glad you did. 250 deg is way toohot for a v-twin. If you have an oil cooler amd are still at 250, make sure your oil cooler is plumbed correctly. I am in the deep south, 100 deg + days, and my oil temp never exceeds 150. Also, you'll need a real oil cooler such as a Lockhart, the billet crap generally speaking does not cool near as well. I run a 96" all S & S, and ride it hard.

Just tore down my Ultima 127 with 2700 miles on it. Never could get this thing to run cool enough to my liking. Always hits 250 degrees before I can get out of the neighborhood... Seized both pistons, locked up the wrist pins and tore hell out of the jugs. I run hi-octane, low total advance and a little rich on the main jets. What I see on the inside tells me this thing started out life with to little clearance everywhere. I've increased bore to increase piston to cylinder clearance, increased ring end gap on first and second ring to compensate for heat transfer growth down the exhaust side of the piston. Polished exhaust ports with minimal chamber size increase and provided dimples in the intake ports and the piston tops to prevent fuel seperation during intake stroke and compression stroke for a more complete fuel burn. Still waiting for the new roller rockers to get here so I can finish the reassembly. Personally, I won't use any synthetic lubricant in anything with caged bearings. Bearing skid is a reality but I've never seen it in good old straight weight or multi visc Racing oil (Valvoline) and I've been using this stuff since early in the 80's. It's not what happens at high speeds with lots of air flowing across that set of polished beauties that worries me but rather what happens when you drop back down to in town R's with that hot synthetic thinner than water trying to dissipate the sudden rush of heat while maintaining enough viscosity to keep all those moving parts from forming some unholy union. Did someone say they couldn't get any feed back? Me either so I just dove in. A lot of work on an engine I didn't get for todays less than 4K price. Mine was out of warrranty the day I fired it up and still out of warranty 2700 miles and two years later when it seized up. I like their bottom ends but from there up (at least on these older version) these engines were lacking. I've got monster written all over this one when it takes it's first breath in it's new life.........Hope some of this helps.... Post Script; Ran an oil cooler on it from day one with long filters, short filters, billet cooler and copper wound cooler. Never made more than 5 degrees difference + or -.
