I have a 1975 Shovel FXE. I have two other bikes and have never considered selling it, trading it, or giving it up....ever.

Don't be afraid of a Shovel. Great engine.
But, make sure you can either work on it or know someone that can. Dealers will probably not touch it. Most in Southern California won't touch anything over 10 years old.

there,s lots to know about older bikes ; stuck on the side of the road aint no way to learn. two pieces of really good advice; take some one back with you to look at this bike that really knows older shovels. two ,if you by it then second thing you buy is a manuel. right away, you ll need it.older bikes need lots of care, some call that preventive maintenance. now from personal experience- if its puking oil out of the breather gear and HE SAYS THATS OK THATS NORMAL; WALK AWAY. ha!
