The best thing I have found is to use Cold Oven Easy-Off. Spray on cold pipes and scrape lightly with the back edge of a plastic knife. Repeat until sole marks are off. Always works for me.

Try Colonel Brassy. Google it and it will come up. It works great. Try it on a hidden area of your pipes first.

I found RoadRub and ordered some online. Found out it's what the local shop uses to clean chrome pipes.
Works for me.

Get some .00000 steel wool. It will take it right off and won't scratch the chrome. My HD mechanic told me about it 7 yrs ago and I've used it ever since. Works on melted shoe, melted rain suites, bugs....
