Well... I am new to the motorcycle word. I bought a 2007 Heritage Softail Classic. Of course I would like to change my exhaust but i have no clue on the best way to choose one. I want a good sounding exhaust(can't be very loud) I live in a residential area. I drive to work so i leave at 530 in the morn. I would like to get something that i will not need to make any engine changes. Does any one have some ideas.

A lot is made about noisy exhaust, when it really comes down to the knothead on the seat. I run the baffles pulled out of my V&H shortshots on my Dyna, and work nights. Usually get home about 4:30am. I've never had a noise complaint because I ride like I've got some sense. Now, down the street from me is a young jerk with a CBR and a Yoshimura pipe who seems to think that 8k rpm revs is the way to warm up an engine, and that my street is a drag strip. I know of three different times the law has been to his house. (not on my call, I don't do that.) If you ride with some sense, you'll have no issues with any exhaust, if you're an *** you're gonna have issues with stock.
