2000 Super Glide Battery Cover

Hi Folks,
Not to sound totally stupid, but I bought a 2000 FDX Dyna Super Glide a couple of years ago and the battery recently had a cell go bad in it. I am having the dickens of the time getting the metal battery cover off. I have even let a few custom painters look at it and couldn't figure it out. There are two rubber grommets on the top between the frame and the battery cover which have been pushed through, but it seems that something else is holding the top cover piece on. Any advice?   Thanks a lot.
