Newbie searching for right bike...

Hey guys I'm looking to get a bike. Would anyone be able to make a recommendation for a make/model that is easy to take care of, fuel efficient (i'll mostly be riding to work) and looks awesome? I'm working on a tight budge so something under $3k would be nice.

PS: I just heard about this awesome radio station out of Texas. They stream online here:lonestar925.com I'm super excited because I finally found a station that plays good classic rock and real country.  If you are a real music lover, you'll love it because all the songs are picked by real DJs, not just some list a suit wrote out to sell records.  

find yourself an fxr before they are all spoken for--you will then be one of a special breed owning the best model ever made by the factory, your problem is in what you have for a budget--but there are plenty of swap meets and ebay to search--good luck--it will be worth your effort--
